UTeM researchers began with lab size prototypes of breakthrough good sthat have received several national and international invention awards. In 2013, they were a nominee for the MOSTI National Innovation Award. The researchers are recognized by the university as potential industry solution provider. Thus, the company IIOTSME Sdn Bhd was formed as a university spinoff company in February 2021.
IIOTSME Sdn Bhd provides a comprehensive range of tailor-made IoT solutions for the adoption of Industrial Revolution 4.0 in accordance with global industrial digitalisation development.
The incorporation of IIOTSME Sdn Bhd is specializing on innovation and technology products. The company provides engineering management and solutions for various industrial applications for remote monitoring, IoT implementation via multi wireless technology and integrated electronic systems.

Mazran Esro
Managing Director
Mazran Esro, who is currently a lecturer at UTeM, has over 16 years of experience in microcontroller training programmes for students, teachers, engineers, and other participants. He gained experience through formal education as well as hands-on experience through projects with many organizations. In UTeM, he has been involved in a variety of research activities involving microcontrollers and embedded systems. He began teaching microcontroller short courses using PIC microcontrollers as part of UTeM Holdings’ income generation programme. Every year, he also held a microcontroller training course for UTeM staff in order to equip them with the knowledge they needed to assist students with their final year projects. In addition to the PIC Microcontroller, he was recognized in2009 by a Korean company as a certified ERT5000 Network router &embedded programmer. Mazran passed a certified IPC Trainer test forIPC-A-610 application specialist training the same year, qualifying him toward IPC specialists to course participants. His vast experience in electronic assembly interconnection and packaging has been widely used to educate and train young engineers to be industry ready. Work and projects on IoT have been rapidly expanding as the world trend has moved towards the era of Industry 4.0. This is followed by the demand for IoT-trained graduates to be industry-ready. Mazran has been involved in IoT-based projects, especially those involving devices with wifi connectivity, and has worked with a variety of IoT platforms. He has earned the “Certified IoT Specialist (CIOTS)” certification from ITrain and Mimos, as well as the MAIOT development platform from UTeM. Mazran’s diverse work experience and qualifications enable him to work with a wide range of IoT applications and platforms

Dr Siva Kumar Subramaniam
Technical and Project Manager
Dr. Siva Kumar Subramaniam has been a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Melaka since 2006. In 2002, he received his Diploma in Electronics Engineering from Politeknik Ungku Omar. Siva Kumar Subramaniam earned a B.Eng in Electronics Engineering (Industrial Electronics) from Kolej Universiti Teknikal Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2006 and a M.Sc in Electronics Engineering from the same institution, which is now known as Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), in 2009. In 2017, he received his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Electronic Research from Brunel University London, United Kingdom through the Public Higher Learning Academic Training Scheme scholarship under Malaysia Education Ministry. He is also an Associate Fellow of Higher Education Academy UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education that is recognised worldwide in all United Kingdom higher learning institutions.
He co-founded a spin-off company from UTeM, IIOTSME Sdn. Bhd in 2021, a private limited company that drives customised IoT based engineering innovation and solutions. He is currently appointed as the Technical and Project Manager, with core responsibilities including project planning, cost estimation, resource management, documentation and overall management of the established initiatives.
Within the span of his professional years, he was awarded relevant credentials namely Chartered Engineer certified by IET and UKEC in 2020, Assessor for Green Building (Melaka Green Seal) accredited by Perbadanan Teknologi Hijau Melaka, ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Internal Auditor Certification, as well as Lean Six Sigma – Green Belt Certification in 2021 accredited by The Council For Six Sigma Certification, USA. He is also a certified Train the Trainer (TTT) certified by The Human Resources Development Fund Malaysia since 2009 and was a Certified IPC Trainer for IPC-A-610 (revision E) Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies Training and Certification Program between 2011 till 2015.
He was appointed as the Project and IoT Prototype Development Coordinator at UTeM to oversee and support all product development related to IoT from 7 faculties. He was also appointed as the Deputy Director of Community Development and I-COE Centre to oversee collaborative projects and activities involving the government agencies, industries, community and higher learning institutions. Throughout the years of engagement with industry partners, Dr. Siva has also been appointed as an IoT expert consultant, to 5 local electronic companies to develop new products in IoT systems and integrate them into their current products and solutions.
Overall, Dr. Siva has spearheaded more than ten projects involving research and development of innovative products, has written more than 50 technical papers and presented papers in more than 15 conferences around the world. He was assigned as the lead researcher with projects amounting to more than MYR 1 million, in which 15 innovative products were created with 20 intellectual property rights granted.
He has also participated and won 60 research awards in both national and international level innovation competitions. He also assumed the role of a reviewer for several journals in the area of electronics, telecommunication and computer engineering. He contributed to the local community as a part of CSR initiatives by conducting training, public lectures, mentoring and coaching school students to promote their interest in engineering and technology. As an engineer with high social responsibilities to the society, he was part of the state-level judge, chief judge and national level judge for Science Fair for Young Children between 2009 – 2013 and Young Inventors Challenge 2013 organised by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) named The Association of Science Technology and Innovation.
As an academician, Dr. Siva has taught more than 20 postgraduate/undergraduate subjects and supervised/co-supervised 5 Masters and more than 30 Bachelor students. He was also appointed to head the Fundamentals Electronic Lab, managed and maintained the laboratory equipments worth of MYR 1.5 million as well as a team of technical staff (Academicians/Senior assistant engineer/Assistant engineer) for teaching and research activities, purchase of consumable and new equipment’s, laboratory auditing and documentation, enforce health and safety procedures.
His research interests include wireless sensor networks particularly on IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15.4 standards. He specialises in wireless sensor networks, IoT systems, system integration, and consumer electronic systems, and has a successful track record of industrial collaboration in the last 15 years.

Dr Satrya Fajri Pratama
IT Manager- Consultant
Satrya Fajri Pratama is a senior lecturer at Malaysia’s Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka’s Faculty of Information and Communication Technology. On October 11, 1988, he was born in Bandung. He received the Vice Chancellor’s Award during his convocation ceremony after completing his Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Development) with Honours at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka in 2010. Passionate about academics, he earned his Master of Science in Information and Communication Technology from the same university in 2013, while also working as a graduate research assistant and part-time lecturers and tutors, seminar and course trainers, consultants, and software developers for various universities, colleges, industries, and Malaysian government agencies. In 2014, he received a scholarship from the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Italy, and in 2016, he received a scholarship from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka to pursue his Doctor of Philosophy in Information and Communication Technology. He was assigned as a visiting researcher at the Institute of Information Theory and Automation in Prague, Czech Republic, in 2015. In 2017, he received his doctorate and the Chancellor’s Award for best academic achievements, social contributions, and industrial recognitions at the graduation ceremony. Throughout his studies, he has published over 20 academic papers, created over 15 web, desktop, and mobile applications, and is a member of four international and national professional organizations.

Zulkifli Shariff
OSHA and Training Manager
Zulkifli Shariff was born on December 14, 1972, in Johor. He has stayed in Batu Berendam, Melaka, as well as Uppsala, Sweden. He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with a degree in Electrical and Telecomm Engineering in 1992. In 1997, he earned a degree in Electronic Telecomm Engineering from the University of North London. Zulkifli Shariff received his Competency Certificate in Safety and Health Officer in 1999 from the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Malaysia. He received his Master’s Degree in Computer and Telecomm Engineering from the National University of Malaysia in 2008. He was doing on his PhD in Construction Safety (Intervention in Health Safety & Environment Management Sys) at Mara University of Technology Malaysia on a part-time. Through his employment history, he has gained a wealth of experience. He joined Pembinaan Bina Bumi Sdn Bhd on July 7, 2017, and China Railway 11th Bureau Group Malaysia Sdn Bhd on January 7, 2019, both as a Health, Safety, and Environment Manager. His first job was as an HSE/OQA Engineer at Ceemax Technology/Computer System (Manufacturing) on July 1, 1997. Following that, in 21st Mac 2008, he joined Valserv Sdn Bhd as a Safety and Health Executive. He started working as a Health, Safety, and Environment Manager at VST Cemerlang Sdn Bhd on April 4, 2011. From February 2012 to June 2014, he was also the Health, Safety, and Environment Manager at Pembinaan Teknikhas Sdn Bhd. He then worked as an HSE Manager for Headway Construction Sdn Bhd and Sena Letrik Malaysia Sdn Bhd until June 2017. In addition, he received the Gold Medal National Research in Exposition and Innovation PENCIPTA 2011 award (Background Ambient Sound Pressure Level Detection for Area and Environmental Monitoring). Besides that, he received an International Research Gold Medal Award for his project The Blood Donor Scale with Real Time Optimizer System at the British Innovation Show BIS 2011. (Smart Donor Scale).
